WHEN I AM STRESSED

The degree of your mental and emotional stress depends almost completely on the workings of your mind.

This truth is acknowledged throughout the world in many cultures. It is not what happens in our lives that affects us; rather, it is the way we react to those happenings that affects us. Nearly everyone can confirm this, when they stop and think about their own stresses, and how their thoughts, attitudes and choices have intensified or lessened the impacts of the stresses.

Following is a little time you might find useful, if you’re feeling stressed and not sure what to do about it.

WHAT DO I HABITUALLY THINK ABOUT

HOW DOES MY MIND WORK? –  RACING. JUMPING RANDOMLY. FIXATING ON ONE THING. GOING BLANK. FOCUSING WELL. FEELING FOGGY.

DO THE THOUGHTS DISTURB ME? ___YES ___NO

IF SO, HOW LONG DO THE THOUGHTS LAST?

WHEN MY MIND REACTS TO STRESS, WHAT EMOTIONS DO I FEEL?

THESE EMOTIONS FALL INTO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING 3 CATEGORIES:

SADNESS – ANGER/IRRITABILITY – FEAR/ANXIETY

SCALE THE INTENSITY OF THE EMOTIONS FROM 1 – 10

WHAT DO I DO, WHEN THESE THOUGHTS AND/OR EMOTIONS COME UP?

IF MY REACTIONS ARE NOT EFFECTIVE, WHAT WOULD I PREFER TO DO?

WHAT WOULD I PREFER TO THINK ABOUT?

HOW WOULD I PREFER TO USE MY MIND?
